What do I need to do to prepare for a voice over recording?

Once you know where your project is headed, the first thing that you will need is the script for the voice over which you can then present to your selected voice acting agency. You will also need to know what your recording budget is, and if you are syncing your voice over with a video or animation etc.

These are really the only things that you will need to prepare, we can provide all of the equipment and studio space required. We can even provide the perfect voice actor for your project from our expansive pool of professional artists.

What is the best environment to record in?

The importance of the quality of the recording environment should never be underestimated. There are so many different variables that can affect the standard of recording; you need an environment with as little interference from background noise as possible, and that’s not just loud cars or people shouting in the distance, even the faintest sounds can drastically affect your audio quality.

In fact, even the materials that the room and furniture are made out of can have a huge impact on your recording, with hard materials bouncing sound around the room, while softer materials can help to absorb the sound for a smoother quality.

How long does it take to record a voice over?

This can sometimes be a tricky question to answer, and it does depend on a few different factors, such as whether playback is needed, for example when recording in multiple different languages. It is also important to account for the time required for editing and finishing any audio. It is likely that a professional voice artist will be able to achieve anywhere between 1,000 and 4,000 words per hour, depending on the nature of your project.

We pride ourselves in being refreshingly different, and as such we don’t charge you extra for things such as set up time, thus ensuring that your recording experience is as easy and efficient as possible.

What equipment do I need to record a voice over?

Voice over recording requires the following equipment: Microphones, a script, recording and editing software, and a computer to run all of the software on. This is of course not forgetting one of the most important things that you’ll need, the voice artist.

These are the main foundations that you will need to record a basic voice over yourself, but when you work with a voice acting agency like Chatterbox Voices, everything is provided for you in our state-of-the-art production studios.

We have three studios optimised to achieve the best sound recording, as well as an extensive selection of top of the range recording equipment.
